Leucojum Snowflakes — Produces elegant, nodding white bell-shaped flowers, each delicately marked with green at the tips. A reliable spring bulb that is ideal for garden beds, borders, woodland plantings, damp areas, pots and containers.

Botanical Name: Leucojum vernum   

Position: Full sun to part shade. Performs well in a sheltered position and is particularly suited to areas with some summer moisture.

Climate: Suitable for cool, temperate and Mediterranean climates. Frost tolerant.

Planting Time: Autumn to early winter.

Watering: Water thoroughly after planting, then keep soil evenly moist while plants are actively growing and flowering. Unlike many spring bulbs, Leucojum appreciates consistent moisture during its growing period. Reduce watering as foliage dies back.

Flowering Time: Late winter to spring.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced bulb fertiliser or blood and bone at planting. Feed again after flowering to help replenish the bulbs for the following season.

Soil: Moist but well-drained, fertile soil enriched with organic matter. Tolerates heavier soils better than many other bulbs but should not remain waterlogged.

Pests: Protect emerging growth from snails and slugs. Bulbs are generally low-maintenance when grown in suitable conditions.

Growing Tips: Plant bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards at the recommended depth. Leucojum bulbs prefer not to dry out completely during active growth. Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulbs can store energy for the following season. They naturalise readily and can be left undisturbed for many years.
