Snowflakes Leucojum
Botanical name - Leucojum vernum L.
A very early flowering bulb bearing clusters of tiny white bell shaped flowers with a green spot on each petal.
Position - Grows best in full sun to partial shade.
Climate - All climates.
Planting time - Autumn to Winter.
Watering - Give the bulbs a really good watering after planting. When the leaves starts to surface give them regular watering, continue watering until the foliage begins to die off.
Flowering time - Late Winter to Spring.
Fertilising - Fertilise after the bulbs have died down. Annual mulch should be applied with decayed manure, blood and bones or compost.
Soil - PH adaptable. They do prefer well-drained soil, but can tolerate permanently moist soil.
Hardiness - Frost hardy.
Pests - None.
Growing Tips - Snowflakes are easy to grow and will reach 30cm in a few years. The bulbs can be left in the ground for a few years without being disturbed. Can be dug after the foliage has died down, if required. Store in a cool, airy position.
