Ranunculi Pink

Botanical Name: Ranunculus asiaticus

Position: Full sun to part shade, preferably in a sheltered position protected from strong winds.

Climate: Suitable for cool, temperate and Mediterranean climates. Frost tolerant once established. Performs best with cool growing conditions.

Planting Time: Autumn to early winter.

Watering: Water thoroughly after planting, then keep the soil evenly moist while plants are actively growing and flowering. Avoid waterlogged conditions. Reduce watering as foliage dies back after flowering.

Flowering Time: Late winter to spring.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced bulb fertiliser or controlled-release fertiliser at planting. Feed again when buds appear and after flowering to encourage continued flowering and help replenish the corms.

Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid heavy or waterlogged soils.

Pests: Protect emerging growth from snails and slugs. Aphids and powdery mildew may occasionally occur.

Growing Tips: Ranunculi are grown from unusual claw-shaped corms. Soak corms for 2–3 hours before planting, then plant with the claws facing downwards at the recommended depth. Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the corms can store energy. Corms can be lifted, dried and stored in a cool, dry place for replanting the following season.
