Daylilies are colourful, long flowering, drought and frost resistant and low maintenance perennials. Don’t let their name deceive you; even though these beautiful flowers will only last for a single day, there is always a profusion of colourful flowers coming on, so you are guaranteed of a long flowering season. Daylilies are extremely popular and easy to grow sun-loving flowering plants. They need 5 – 7 hours of sun every day and respond well to lots of organic matter in the soil and love thick mulch. Grow them as a border, in pots, around the edge of ponds or even on steep banks. They are well suited to pots and containers and once established require little water.
