Grown for it’s spicy root, Wasabi is a delicacy in many cuisines. This perennial prefers a partly shaded position and requires regular watering or planting into a wetter part of the garden.
This is the true Japanese Wasabi so both the leaves and roots of this plant are edible. The roots are grated to create the hot and spice delicacy enjoyed worldwide and the foliage and stems can be used fresh in salads.
Wasabi requires a cool shaded position in moist soils and needs regular watering, particularly during the summer months. For best results protect from direct sun and frost.
